Since its formation in 1973, the mission of the Stark County Chapter of OGS has been to bring together all persons with an interest in genealogy as a hobby or as a profession.

Monthly Meetings
Chapter meetings are held at 6:30 p.m. in the Mckinley room of the Stark County District Library at 715 Market Ave North, in Canton, OH, on the second Thursday of each month, with the exceptions of the annual picnic in July, the annual banquet in November, and the Christmas break in December. Meeting program descriptions can be found on the meetings page and guests are always welcome.

The Latest News

Hi everyone and welcome to the Stark County OGS website. I hope that everyone has been having a safe and enjoyable spring this year and is looking forward to the changes that it brings.

Speaking of changes you will begin to see a number of changes in this website in the next coming months that will hopefully make your experience here both easier to navigate and provide new and better services to both members and non-members alike. The first of these is a new contact mail form that allows you to address your questions directly to an officer or to the various parties concerned with the subject of your email. This will provide you with better access to our officers and give you a quicker response on your queries or problems. The next change to be implemented will be a total site redesign to allow users to easier access to our existing content and also to make the site easier to expand with new content like our members only section and other future projects.

These developments will help us address the needs of our members that were outlined in our survey that we conducted last year You can view those results by clicking here.

If you cannot read the file then please download and install Adobe Reader by clicking here. If you are still having trouble please use the contact page to send me an email and I can assist you.

In society news we are happy to announce the formation of the First Families of Stark County, Ohio. This is a lineage society within the Stark County Chapter that is similar to First Families of Ohio. To qualify you must have had ansectors that lived in Stark County before January 1, 1826.

Also make sure to look at the FFSCO Rules of Evidence to make sure that all of your references qualify.
